New Miyazaki

woke up to take a shower, feels like a throat infection.
In cuter news, the song to the new Miyazaki (I'm pretty sure it's Hayao and not Goro) film Ponyo on a cliff evokes that wonderful Schnappi das kleine Krokodil song.

I knew I wasn't dreaming when Ranger Stacey (at the Ekka) told me to throw the cap off a milk bottle in the bin (I think that goes with all bottled drinks), it's written in red on the bottle! Apparently you're supposed throw the label out too, but who on Earth actually does that?
Also I think Zimbabwe just essploded.
Will an uprising occur?
bad thing happened.

Vicky Christina Barcelona
looks excellent.
The Curious Case of Benjamin Button
The prosthetic make up on Brad Pitt looks a little weird but cool, but I have a feeling this trailer is selling something that this movie isn't. Or maybe the nature of the idea promises humour when instead it will probably be a slow and long methodical drama which is still good, I just hope the movie will capture my interest for most of it.
Also: The Kills - Last Day of Magic
I quite like the Kills and their new song, except they got scarier in between albums if that's even possible

The next time you goto the dentist for a check up, tell me if it reminds you of that scene from 2001 where Hal has just killed Frank Poole and Dave tries to get back into the ship. The moment the cleaning starts is the moment the monolith starts emitting that piercing sound on the moon.
edit: Oh yeah, individualising cover letters for different jobs where you do essentially the same thing anyway sucks major rectum.

Blips and Bleeps: Cocteau Twins - Carolyns Fingers

Is it real? Did someone really think about cross promoting Batman Returns with Milk? Very Beautifully photographed.
They're doing it now, but the results aren't nearly as amazing (by which I mean sensual but wrong on so many levels).

Here's and awesome web comic for you to read, drawn by one of my favourite artists Cameron Stewart.

EPIC WIN!
For those of you who have the mad skills when it comes to drawing and would like to win some superman stuff.
Project Rooftop
are holding a competition where you submit a redesign of the Superman Costume. Fun!
Of course how the hell do you improve upon a costume which is pretty much the proto costume for every single superhero ever made.

Somebody shut up about the price of oil.
May. 29th, 2008 | 06:30 pm
Mum is going to sell her car, because she's currently driving a car that loves drinking milkshakes, with an extended straw. So we argued talked about whether she should trade up for a cheapo. The current maths says that a small cars fuel consumption would not amount to the higher amount you would currently be paying for a hybrid in a 3-4 year period anyway even if the price went up to two dollars, which it will.
Anyway this brought up a whole host of questions.
Like, why is petrol getting so expensive? The Peak Oil theory seems to be going through the motions currently.
I also didn't understand why people were blaming the the hiking price of Oil in Iraq on the Invasion, since it was known but not acknowledged that the war was always about Oil. If that were so, we'd all be swimming in cheap bloodied oil by now. It looks as if things did not go to plan for the prez.
Finding things out...wooo.
They don't really explain these things to you on the news
Then again i'm not going to expect them to give me the Arab Israelian conflict in 5 minutes, hey people are fighting, why? I dunno.

The problem with ghosts and sleeping
May. 22nd, 2008 | 03:56 am
Sleep Paralysis
I'm not a believer of the supernatural, but I have no wish to see an old hag lying on me and a tall man staring at me.
I should of listened, but curiosity got the better of me and I read the damn folklore section.
It's a good thing I've been sleeping properly lately.
edit: there are also videos on youtube it seems. You can look it up if you want.
I've also only just recently experienced my first False Awakening.
I can't find the one where you dream for a second, and something bad like falling of a bike or getting hit by something causes you to violently shake in bed.
As for Lucid Dreaming although I've realised at times that I am dreaming, I have never been able to take control of reality within, I can make decisions, but they never turn out the way I hope.

If I could readily clone someone, it would be one of my parents, any one of them just to see how they would turn out if they were brought up in the same circumstances. But then my actual parents would have to get over the fact that they're raising an exact copy of themselves pretty quickly...otherwise the simulation would be inauthentic.
Of course if was born in the 30-40's and had to raise a clone of myself, my clone would not be very impressed with me.

I guess they deserve it, with retcon rapes, fridge deaths and the millerverse.

Catwoman is getting canceled, big surprise. great comic no readers. I'm actually more broken up about this than I seem.

Guess where I am?
If you guessed partying down with my friends you'd be dead wrong.
I'm at uni, yeah that's right! Our bigpond internet connection has become deadly slow so I can't do the practice questions at home for Accounting. Now I'm totally rocking it up high speed uni connection style...well whatever I have left of my 150MB limit that is...
The test is at 9am.
Musn't go home.
I wish I had nerdy uni friends to study cram with.
*FUCK I forgot my Calculator!
** So I did the practice exam....outlook. Epic fail would be an understatement

Stupid things that keep me up
Apr. 14th, 2008 | 08:58 am
After a night of assignment writing, lying in bed I found myself wondering what it would actually be like if I lost any of my 5 senses. I sound like a horrible chain email, but I really latched on to the idea of it, like its one of those things you read about, or see in a movie as an emotionally forced plot point which you never actually give much thought to in a day to day situation, until it comes back to haunt you from out of left field because you got first world problems in your day to day life (ramble ramble).
.
This got me thinking about what it would be like to be both Deaf and Blind, I think if that happened, I would feel so intensely lonely that I wouldn't be able to continue on living. Being born Deaf and Blind I would try to imagine would be like living as some sort of microscopic organism at the very bottom of the sea, except you would obviously have to be taken care of since humans did not naturally evolve to adapt to this sort of extreme situation. I'm probably underestimating the benefits of the 3 remaining senses though.
Nevertheless I really shouldn't have drunk that can of V at 4am in the morning. It would also really suck to be both death and blind. Uhh hooray for stem cell research?
On a much happier note, yesterday Brooke dropped off a box of cookies she baked for me and a Leonardo Pez dispenser with Pez included! It was boxed in a riddler style question mark box and dropped off in a bushy tree down the road, which must have taken me at least 10 minutes to find even after numerous clues were given to me in the form of text messaging. Best girlfriend EVER.

I've stopped writing for you! I'm Sorry!!!
Apr. 12th, 2008 | 05:31 am
I think I need to re-learn how to write English properly.
Net speak and RPG games have slowly been chipping away at my fundamentals of language processing units in the brain, and I've started to over complicate my sentence structures.
My tendency to over speak has held me back long enough. Just like the way Obi-wan held Anakin back...apparently.
I've also neglected myself lately, in terms of mind, body, and spirit. If I were a blurb on the back of a book I wouldn't know which plot I'm in. In Conclusion, Grant Morrison needs to write me out of this, or Superboy will need to punch reality so I can be ret-conned into a retarded super-genius, as long as I don't end up like Batgirl.
If only my life were more like a comic book.
Maybe not like a DC comic, otherwise Brooke might end up in a fridge, and I certainly wouldn't want that.
Not an indie comic, otherwise it would be in 2 tones and I'd have endless relationship troubles.
My life in a Marvel comic would be exactly the same as it is now, except more whiny because then I'd have 'real' human problems.
Ok...so if only my life were more like a National Lampoon movie...
